Education in Nutrition

During my time as a graduate student at Lamar University, I was able to study nutrition through different lenses. This program expanded my knowledge in areas such as cultural differences and population-specific challenges, and implementing supplementation. The variety of classes provided skills I need to apply to my current areas of practices in nutrition counseling, personal training, and competitive bodybuilding.

Personal training & Competitive bodybuilding

Through the research covered in Lamar University's Nutrition program, I learned invaluable skills and information that will help my current and future clients.

  • The importance of recovery

  • Identifying eating disorders

  • Proper macronutrients & Micronutrients

  • Total energy expenditure

  • Proper caloric deficient & surplus

  • Carbohydrate loading

  • Supplementation

Nutrition counseling

As a graduate student, I wanted to further my education to help in the fight against hypertension and cardiovascular disease. In doing this, I furthered my knowledge of useful approaches to clearly and effectively communicating with others about their health. I learned that understanding each client's background will be different, therefore it is critical that I remain open and unbiased to their individual experiences. It is just as important to use credible sources and substantiate my findings by using scholarly articles.
